Hurricane hits South China, killing 4 - 9th May 2011

A hurricane has swamped south China in the past two days. The hurricane which struck Foshan City in Guangdong Province led to the collapse of a 2,000 square meter food factory, killing 4 people and injuring 17 others.

Heavy rainfall also hit the tourist city of Guilin in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on Sunday, flooding farmland, cutting off roads and trapping travelers.

Local officials have ordered enhanced monitoring over potential reservoir breaches, landslides and mud flows. The Central Meteorological Observatory said on Sunday that most parts of China will have rainfall and it will last until Thursday. Source
