Fukushima: Temperature at Japanese Reactor No.3 Rises - 9th May 2011

Condition of the Number 3 reactor at the quake and tsunami-crippled Fukushima power plant in Japan turned for the worse with the temperature rising more than 40 degrees in less than a day.

Tokyo Electric Power corporation said the temperature of reactor No. 3 rose to 217 degrees Sunday but added that the figure is still lower than what usually seen during normal operations;
On the other hand, the Number 1 reactor at the plant is now open and the Japanese workers are expected to start building a new cooling system for the reactor Monday.

Meanwhile, over a thousand people in Tokyo rallied to protest against nuclear power demanding the government to switch to alternative and safer energy sources. Source
